With the holiday season coming up my wife and I have been trying to figure out what to get our 2 1/2 year old son. One of the items we were considering is one of the handheld gaming systems for his age by Fisher Price or VTech. These are the systems that have games you buy separately and are usually based on licensed characters. The games run about $20 each. He loves playing games on the iPod Touch and we thought this would be a great gift.

When a kid gets in to something, they really get in to it. I once knew a boy who loved Shrek so much that I thought he may actually turn into an ogre. Every day he wore a Shrek t-shirt, toted around his Shrek lunch box and for Halloween his mom shoved a few pillows under a burlap sack and painted his face green. This was long before the days of the iPhone, but I know if he would have known about a Shrek app, that it undoubtedly would have been his favorite. No matter who your child’s favorite television character is, there is most likely an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad app that gives your kid the opportunity to learn and play while chilling out in the company of their favorite animated person. Or sponge, who lives in a pineapple under the sea.

I’m willing to admit it. There was a time not too long ago when I had so many apps scattered throughout my iPod Touch that finding the app I wanted was similar to locating a cotton ball in a snow bank. I was annoyed to flip through screen, after screen, after screen to scan for the app I wanted. One night after complaining that I couldn’t find Boggle to save my life, my husband let me in on a secret: you can create folders on your iPhone and iPod Touch to organize all those random apps. I was elated! Folders? Like on a computer? You bet!

Watching live TV with your iPhone, iPad and other mobile devices has been a source of vast legal debate over the years. Ideally, users would be able to subscribe to a service and have access to live television broadcasts via mobile devices. However, in the past, many of the services that offered mobile live TV access did not take proper action to avoid infringement of copyright laws. Thus, many mobile television providers have come and gone over time.
